The Getty Center
The Getty Center is a grand jewel in Los Angeles’ collection of culture: here you can find an amazing stockpile of Western art from the Middle Ages to the present against a backdrop of dramatic architecture, tranquil gardens and breathtaking views. Admission is free. In fact, collecting this world-class art and making it available to the public, free of charge. The museum’s current location—the second after its initial foundation—also gives it room to host live performances of music, dance, theater and the spoken word every Saturday night. We also recommend giving yourself plenty of time to explore the grounds during your visit: large gardens with beautiful footpaths and trees complement the building itself—a unique work of architecture that makes a fascinating view from several angles. With European paintings, drawings, manuscripts, sculpture and decorative arts, and European and American photographs, it would take a few visits to see everything the Getty Center in Los Angeles, CA has to offer.
